Investec Bursary Programme for 2014

Investec is inviting applications from South African matriculants, current Grade 12 learners and first year students to apply for their 2014 bursary programme. The main criteria for the selection of applications is financial need and academic potential.

Study fields funded
Bursary applications are invited from young people who aim to study full time towards an undergraduate university (academic) degree in :

  • Commerce (Economics, Business Economics, Accounting, Investments and Finance),
  • BCom Informatics,
  • BSc Computer Science,
  • BSc Information Technology,
  • BIT-Bachelors of Information Technology,
  • BIS-Bachelor of Information Science,
  • Business Science,
  • Science and  Mathematics,
  • Engineering or
  • Commercial LLB

Students who apply for an Engineering degree may be considered for the Sasol Inzalo Foundation Bursary should they qualify  .
Only first year Actuarial Science students already at university will be considered for this specific degree .

Requirements

  • Applicants currently in Grade 12 and applicants already in possession of a National Senior certificate should have obtained at least 50% in all  their subjects with a minimum of 60% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and 60% in English.
  • Applicants who wrote Matric  (Grade 12) prior to 2008 must have obtained a minimum of a C-symbol in both Mathematics (HG) and English (HG).
  • Bursaries will only be offered to applicants who are currently in Grade 12 or in their first year of University.
  • Changing your degree after submitting your application form may lead to a cancellation of the bursary.
  • No bursaries are available for private tertiary institutions.

Bursary amounts

The bursary amounts are reviewed and are subject to change every year.  For the 2013 academic year successful applicants received a partial bursary  to the value of R70 000. Applicants are thus advised to also apply through the Financial Aid Office of their university of choice for a study loan from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to cover the shortfall. Studietrust (Investec’s bursary administrator) receives thousands of application forms each year and it is therefore not possible for us to acknowledge  receipt of all completed forms. All applications will be considered and selection will take place from September to December 2013. All applicants will be notified of the outcome by sms not later than 14 December 2013. How to apply

When completing the form, please take note of the following:

  • Read the instructions carefully
  • Return the application form to Studietrust before 30 September 2013
  • Send the completed form, together with the required documents, to Studietrust, PO Box 29192, Melville, 2109. No faxed or e-mailed  applications will be accepted
  • Applications that are not 100% complete will not be considered. Please ensure that all the requested documents are attached
  • Only applications from South African citizens will be considered.
