The CSIR’s intern programme aims to provide newly-qualified professionals with the opportunity to gain experiential training at the CSIR, one of South Africa’s leading research organisations. The Materials Science and Manufacturing (MSM) unit in Pretoria is inviting newly-qualified professionals to apply for an internship within the Mechatronics and Micro Manufacturing Competency Area. This contract position is for a period of 12 months.

Key responsibilities:

Participate in the development of the user requirements specification
Design, implementation, testing and documentation of software
Contribute to the improvement of software development processes within the competency.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

Minimum qualification is a National Diploma in computer engineering or computer science and BTech degree is advantageous
Must be able to program and debug in different languages
Some experience in Linux
Good interpersonal and team skills
Must have the ability to work independently as well as in an interdisciplinary team
Must be self-motivated
Problem-solving and solution-seeking orientation
Must have good communication, presentation and writing skills.
