City of Johannesburg COJEDI Programme (Matric OR IT qualification required)

The City of Johannesburg is inviting applications for its 2016 City of Joburg Educating Digital Intern (COJEDI) programme from unemployed young South Africans between the ages of 18 and 25 years, who are resident in areas serviced by the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. Applicants are required to have either a Matric only OR an IT qualification to be considered. Successful candidates will be trained in various skills, including Fibre Optics, Microsoft System Engineering, Cisco Network Associates, or Web Development, depending on their current qualifcation. A monthly allowance will be paid for the duration of the programme.

What are the requirements?

The minimum qualification requirements range from a Matric only to a IT tertiary qualification or related, depending on the field of training. In addition to the qualification requirements (which are listed in the table down below), the following minimum requirements apply:

  • Be a South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35 years;
  • Not currently working;
  • Not currently in training (e.g. learnership, or internship);
  • Be currently studying; and
  • Meet the following qualification requirements:

Fibre Optics
  • Applicants must have Matric / Grade 12;
  • Be an unemployed South African citizen;
  • Be a youth (18-35 years old)
Microsoft System Engineering
  • Applicants must have a 2-year or 3-year IT qualification;
  • Be an unemployed South African citizen;
  • Be a youth (18-35 years old)
Cisco Network Associates Must have an IT qualification from a recognised institution
Web Development Basic IT programming skills (C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Perl, MySQL)
