eHealthNews, a news service for the healthcare sector based in Cape Town, is inviting applications for its 2016 internship programme from recent graduates looking their skills in public relations, marketing and journalism. The position also entails aspects of admin, social media management and providing support to the management team of the organisation. This position is full-time and will be based in Woodstock, Cape Town for a period of between 3 and 6 months, paying a monthly stipend of between R3500 and R4500.

What are the requirements?

Be sure to meet any of the following minimum requirements:

  • Have a tertiary qualification in any of the following: Journalism, Public Relations or Marketing;
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office & MS Outlook; and
  • Possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

While not strict minimum requirements, the following will be advantageous:

  • Experience working with WordPress, Hootsuite, & Mailchimp;
  • Have an interest in healthcare industry;
  • Have own transport and possess a driver’s license.

What will my duties entail?

The following:

  • Assist the editor with diary management, meeting preparation, and events
  • Transcribe interviews
  • Social media research, planning and posting
  • Online community engagement and development
  • Supplier directory management
  • Liaison with clients to update and manage content
  • Develop a highly targeted audience to the same quality and accuracy
  • Pitch ideas for news stories, features and interviews
  • Do fact-checking and research
  • Getting coffee/making tea

The ideal candidate will be professional, positive, pay attention to detail, persevere, be able to understand complex subjects and possess a willingness to learn. He/She will also be able to implement positive feedback, and take pride in producing a high standard of work, regardless of the task.
