The Gauteng Department of Community Safety is inviting applications for its Traffic Officer learnerships from suitably qualified candidates with a Grade 12/Matric qualification and a drivers license. The traffic officer learnership will be based at Gauteng’s Traffic Training College and learners will be expected to live at the college for the duration of  the learnership. This opportunity is open to South African citizens residing in Gauteng. Learners will be paid a monthly stipend of R3,000.00.

What are the requirements?

  • Be a young South African between 18 and 35 years; a resident of Gauteng;
  • Have Grade 12 or equivalent qualification;
  • Have a minimum of Code B drivers license;
  • Be physical fit; and
  • Have no current or pending criminal record (You will be required to undergo a criminal record vetting process to ensure you do not have illicit or pending or criminal case against recorded against you.).

What will the learnership entail?

The training of traffic officers will be done in terms of the SAQA registered qualification for traffic officers. The qualification currently comprises of a total of 172 credits. To ensure that the specific outcome of the unit standards within the registered qualification are met, the qualification has been divided into seven modules i.e.

Module 1: Personal orientation learning material.

Module 2: Legislation and people.

Module 3: Legislation and traffic.

Module 4: Legislation and vehicle compliance.

Module 5: Legislation and traffic hazards.

Module 6: Load compliance.

Module 7: Communication with customers.
