Overview

Prairie State Generating Company is looking for college students who are interested in a summer intern program in the Human Resources environment of the power generation or coal mining industries.  A limited number of internships are available for college students enrolled a specific curriculum.  Participating as an intern will provide experience and exposure to state of the art technology in a start-up operation.   Student interns will receive industry experience, hands-on training, paid intern program and exposure to industry professionals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following (other duties and responsibilities may be assigned):

  • Assist with creating/updating Onboarding
  • Vyond software – set up basis of the videos for Open Enrollment, Financial wellness campaigns
  • Pre-work of quarterly newsletters
  • Assist with mid-summer intern check-in
  • Assist with New Hire Orientation
  • Some clean-up of HR drive
  • Participate in audits of recruiting files, I9s, and other areas as required
  • Uses the Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required to support all functions of the Corporate HR department.

What are the requirements?

  • To be considered, an individual MUST be enrolled in a college degree program in Human Resources or related field.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • MUST be available for a 12-13-week program beginning in Late- May to Early-August.

Knowledge of

  • Safety and health hazards associated with each job assignment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors and others.
  • Ability to read and understand operating procedures.
  • Ability to work unsupervised as required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, reach, stoop, and lift boxes weighing as much as 25 pounds.
