Internships and post-graduate bursaries for 2012: Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (South Africa)

The national department responsible for agriculture forestry and fisheries has internship opportunities for approximately 270 openings for internships, experiential training, agricultural interns and bursaries for B-Tech, honours, masters and doctorate.

The opportunities are divided into:

  1. Post-graduate bursaries. There are 60 openings for these categories. And they pay for courses starting at degree level (B-tech only), Honours, Masters and Doctorate (PhD) level.
  2. Young agricultural export technologists. A three-year relevant qualification (degree or national diploma) is a requirement. There are 30 opportunities.
  3. Entrepreneurship development programme. This requires people who are or want to start business in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector. There are 30 openings.
  4. Internships and experiential training. The are a staggering 150 opportunities in this category.

And the money?

This programme pays a stipend. And it states that for interns it will pay R57 460 per year, and for experiential trainees it promises to pay R33 124 per year.
