Why do u only offer bursaries for students who have studied science?

    • Editor

As The Bursary Bin, we really do not know. But maybe it is because Transnet deals mainly with the engineering and maintenance of railway systems thus only subjects related to engineering are preferred. This, however, may not be the best answer as we are not speaking on behalf of Transnet and believe they can provide a better answer than ourselves. Please search for other bursaries using our search box towards the top right corner of your screen.

Hi Esther, have you applied to study at a university in South Africa?

  3. letty

    • Editor

Hi Letty, the application process is currently closed. Please be on the look-out for adverts for 2014 intake. In the meantime please apply to university.

  4. Sphephelo Hlongwa

I am interested in studying further but my financial resources are keeping me from doing just that. I don’t know if I can get any sponsorship or bursary or any thing please.

    • Editor

Hi Sphe, there is always a way. Always. The Bursary Bin advices you to apply to study at a university of your choice for 2014 studies. Once that is done, if you do not get a bursary, we are sure NSFAS will fund you.

Unfortunately without maths and science, studying engineering may just not be possible. On the train driver question; Transnet periodically advertises positions, please be on the lookout for the adverts.

  7. Nonhlakanipho Mazibuko

Hi,i would like to get a feedback regarding the application i sent last year(4th december 2012) as a WAGON FITTER.thank you….7

    • Editor

Hi Nonhlakanipho, unfortunately we are just an information portal, Transnet may be the best subject to answer the question. This is their number: 011 308 3000. But we doubt they would be happy to get a call from you as adverts usually state that correspondence will only be entered into with shortlisted candidates. And from calculating, we think 3 months have not passed yet since you applied so they may still be processing the applications.

Hi, if I’m not mistaken, Transnet has a logistics management department. I’m doing my second year diploma in Logistics management. I have been searching for bursary chances from transnet but I couldn’t find one, I’m in need for financial support badly. If I can get a positive response, my dream would have been succeeded.

    • Editor

Yes it is true Transnet has a logistics department, but the study field is currently not their focus area most probably because it is not their business area. Please browse or search this website using the keyword “Logistics” there may be bursaries for your field from other companies.

  28. sanelisiwe Mncwabe

Hi Just wanna find out if a student who want to study through UNISA can qualify for Transnet Bursary.I’m above 30 bt below 35years of age and I want to study environmental and would like a bursary. Will I qualify?

  29. Ncebakazi

    Hi Editor
I think Transnet is a bit unfair on only giving out bursaries to matriculants wanting to study towards engineering degrees; what happens to the rest of the faculties eg Communications/marketing etc. I think you guys should consider a percentage of the bursaries to be given to students wanting qualifications in other departments besides engineering.
Ow if u need help responding to the emails sent I’m available 🙂
    Thank you
