National Arts Council Bursaries for Post-graduate and Undergraduate studies

The National Arts Council of South Africa is a funding institution for the arts. This entity of the Department of Arts and Culture also awards bursaries in arts fields such as theatre, dance, crafts, literature, music and visual arts; and it is currently inviting applications from suitably qualified persons and educational institutions for the academic year of 2013.

The National Arts Council invites post graduate students and registered education and training institutions that are involved in studies or provide tuition in the fields of theatre, dance, crafts, literature, music and visual arts to submit applications for bursary funding.

Applications invited are for individual post graduate studies and block institution bursaries for undergraduate students who will be studying in South Africa during 2013.

  • Closing date: 14 September 2012
  • Outcomes available on 09 December 2012

Please note that late and incomplete applications will not be considered at all and no exceptions will be made. Application forms are available from the National Arts Council office or can be downloaded below:

  1. I wish to know can I apply I’m doing integrated learning of Nature Conservation next I wish to do B tech in nature conservation. (At Mangosuthu University of technology)

    1. Hi Winile, unfortunately this bursary is inviting applications only from people interested in the arts (e.g. drama, acting, music, etc). Please browse around this website as there plenty of bursaries and you may find one. You may also use our search box at the top to find the bursary best suited for your qualification.

  2. When can we expect bursaries for the academic year 2014, I’m currently dOing my final year in animal health and I realised my passion is more in arts; dramatic arts to be specific.

  4. Does this bursary pay for private Universities, such as AFDA(South African Film School) ? because that is where I plan on studying.
