The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is calling for applications from qualified individuals who are interested in becoming Candidate Attorney (interns) for the year 2013.
The 2013 interns/Candidate Attorneys will be placed at various state attorney offices in the country and there are currently 37 opportunities available. Interns will be placed in the following provinces and cities:
1. North West (3): Mmabatho (3)
2. Gauteng (12): Johannesburg (6); Pretoria (6).
3. Eastern Cape (9): Bisho (3); Port Elizabeth (3); Mthatha (3)
4. Free State (3): Bloemfontein (3)
5. Limpopo (3): Thohoyandou (1) Polokwane (2)
6. Northern Cape (3): Kimberley (3)
7. KZN (4) Durban (4)
What are the requirements?
An LLB degree; The following will serve as recommendation: A valid code EB (previously code 8) driver’s license.
What will be your duties as a Candidate Attorney?
Key Performance Areas: To receive training towards qualifying as an admitted attorney. To perform court work, draft pleadings and opinions under supervision of the Principal attorney. To perform other duties in keeping with training that is required of a candidate attorney Being exposed to more complex work performed by State Attorneys, including litigation, expropriation, insolvencies and labour related matters.
