Standard Bank Group Procurement Graduate Programme 2013

One of South Africa’s oldest banking institutions, Standard Bank, is currently inviting applications into its procurement internship for 2013.

The procurement department is responsible for processing and  obtaining goods and services from preparation and processing of a requisition through to receipt and approval of the invoice for payment. Procurement involves: purchase planning, standards determination,  specifications development, supplier research and selection, value analysis, financing,  supply contract administration, and other related functions.

The program aims to help you develop these skills to become well trained professional in the   within Group Vender management and Procurement. To learn from other specialists and team members within Group vendor management and procurement team.  The role is intended to provide a foundation for further roles in the department.

Key objectives within the role:
•Gain understanding of the Value Chain
•Assistance with Administration / Projects
•Conduct research

During this eighteen month program you will go through multiple rotations whereby you will develop both technical and specialist Procurement skills with the purpose of building future specialist capability across Procurement functions.
Rotation areas will include Client Managament, Category Sourcing, Managed Service Sourcing, Vendor Management, Procure to Pay, Procurement Operations & Business Management.

You will need at least a three-year B.Com degree majoring in Finance, Supply chain management or Logistics.

As well as educational qualifications you will need to be a South African citizen, you’ll need an analytical and logical approach to problem solving, an eye for detail and the ability to be responsible and accountable for complex work. Naturally, you’ll need to be a good communicator and networker, with the ability to work under pressure, make rational decisions and complete tasks.
