The national Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has been issuing bursaries to students and matric learners for studying agriculture, forestry and fisheries-related careers for a number of years and most of their bursary recipients a doing very well both in the private and public sector of the South African economy.
The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Bursary Programme is inviting applications from matric (grade 12) students who want to pursue a career in one of the agriculture, forestry and fisheries-related qualifications listed below or who are already at university studying towards any of the qualifications listed below.
What are the requirements for the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Bursary Programme?
To be considered for a Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries bursary you have to be intending to study or currently studying towards one of the following and meet the specified requirements:
Degrees or Diplomas that are funded by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for 2014 | Minimum requirements |

You must have a Matric/Grade 12 National Senior Certificate with the following subjects passed with atleast Level 6 (70 โ 79 percente pass mark):

3. B.Sc. Marine Biology 4. B.Sc. Food Science 5. B.Sc. Plant Pathology 6. B.Sc. Geo-informatics 7. B.Sc. Forestry and Wood Science 8. B.Sc. Agric Agronomy 9. B.Sc. Agric Soil Science 10. B.Sc. Viticulture and Oenology 11. B.Sc. Ichthyology specialising in Aquaculture 12. B.Sc. Oceanography and Marine Biology |
You must have a Matric/Grade 12 National Senior Certificate with the following subjects passed with atleast Level 5 (60 โ 69 percente pass mark):

You must have a Matric/Grade 12 National Senior Certificate with the following subjects passed with atleast Level 4 (50 โ 59 percente pass mark):

Postgraduate Bursaries at the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries | |
Postgraduate studies in any agriculture, forestry and fisheries-related study areas linked to DAFF priority research projects at the following postgraduate levels:

The bursary will give preference to previously disadvantaged and poor people from deep rural communities that also poverty stricken. Anyone, including females and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Applicants have to be South African citizens.
What will a Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries pay for?
If you are awarded a bursary by the department, you can expect it to pay for your tuition fees (school fees), books, food, accommodation and also pay you a monthly allowance for the duration of the bursary. Please note: you may be required to work for the department when you complete your studies.
