The South African Sugarcane Research Institute (SASRI) is a world renowned agricultural research institute conducting research for the sugar industry. There are a number of different research projects that take place at SASRI which are clustered into four multidisciplinary programmes, namely; Variety Improvement, Crop Protection, Crop Performance & Management and System Design and Optimisation.

The South African Sugarcane Research Institute (SASRI) is offering a graduate programme and;

We require:

  • A B.Sc. or B.Com. in Computer Science or Business Information Systems
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Self-motivated individual
  • A high level of initiative
  • A systematic approach to work
  • Good logical reasoning and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Basic html skills
  • Knowledge/Experience in designing databases, developing and maintaining applications
  • Ability to balance working in a team while also being self-reliant

Preference will be given to individuals with:

  • Experience in Asp and C#.NET
  • Experience in Java and PL//SQL
  • Experience using Oracle Databases
  • Experience in SharePoint 2010
  • Understanding of OOP – object oriented programming
  • Understanding of Universal Modelling Language for diagramming
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies

In-house training will be provided in Oracle SQL,PL/SQL,Oracle Application Express. Oracle ADF, SharePoint 2010 and Oracle Discoverer.

The purpose of the Internship is to:

  • Provide workplace experience to graduates allowing them practical exposure that will enrich their academic training, enhancing future employability.
  • Provide additional skills development training that will stimulate personal and professional growth, provide life skills and boost work readiness (Basic Business, Technical and Life Skills Training) through formal mentorship.

Term of the Internship:

  • Participants will be offered a one year contract.
