Film and Publication Board Internships 2014

The FPB is implementing an Internship Programme and is seeking a total of nine candidates who are interested in having an opportunity to gain practical work experience and skills development within the media regulatory sector (films, certain publications and interactive games) and who fulfil the following criteria:

Requirements: • A recognised and/relevant qualification in the field of Humanities (Social Sciences and Arts) or Law • Candidates must be based in Durban, Cape Town or Johannesburg/Pretoria and must be South African citizens between the ages of 18 to 35 • Interested in gaining experience and skills and/or building a future career in the regulatory sector • Computer literacy and the ability to use MS Word, Excel, the Internet and e-mail at an intermediate to advanced level • A valid South African driver’s licence • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Good planning, organising and implementation skills • Preparedness to enter into a 12-month fixed-term contract with the FPB.

The Internship Programme will afford successful applicants the opportunity to be trained in the compliance monitoring and outreach/public education functions of the FPB and associated administrative tasks. The programme will also provide an insight into the other functions and units of the FPB and the role of the public sector and regulators in society.

Successful candidates will be placed at the 3 FPB regional offices (3 per office) reporting directly to the FPB Regional Coordinator who will monitor and evaluate work activities and programmes. Successful applicants will be remunerated in accordance with the current FPB intern rates.
