Anglo American New Vaal Colliery Learnerships 2013 (only Matric OR N2/3 required)

Anglo American’s thermal coal operation in the Free State – the New Vaal Colliery – is inviting young South Africans interested in a career in mining to apply for their 2013 learnership opportunities. The learnership requires applicants to have either a Grade 12/ Matric qualification OR an N2 or N3 technical qualification. Applicants must have passed Maths and Science in Matric OR have a Technical N2 or N3 with qualifications as listed below under requirements.

Which learnership areas are available?

The Anglo American Learnerships are available for people interested in following a mining related career in any of the following occupations: Instrument Mechanician, Electrician, Boilermaker (Plater / Welder), Auto Electrician, Rigger, Diesel Mechanic.

What are the requirements for applying for an Anglo American Learnership?

If you have a Grade 12/ Matric qualification with Maths and Physical Science, you can apply for any of these learnership occupations. If you have an N2 or N3 Technical qualification you must have passed the subjects listed on each occupation:

• Instrument Mechanician: N2/N3 with these subjects: Instrument Trade Theory, Maths, Science, Industrial Electronics OR a Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science.
• Electricians: N2/N3 with these subjects: Electrical Theory, Maths, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics OR a Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science.
• Diesel Mechanic: N2/N3 with these subjects: Diesel Trade Theory, Maths, Science, Engineering Drawing OR a Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science.
• Rigger: N2/N3 with these subjects: Rigging trade theory, Maths, Science, Engineering drawing OR a Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science.
• Auto Electrician: N2/N3 with these subjects: Motor Electrical Theory, Maths, Science, Industrial Electronics OR a Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science.
• Plater / Boilermaker: N2/N3 with these subjects: Plating and Structural Steel Drawings, Maths, Science, Plater Theory OR a Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science.
• You must also have a sound knowledge of Safety Regulations and Standards, and Safety Systems with a high regard for safety and an excellent safety record.
• You must also have a valid K53 driver’s licence.
• You will under go a psychometric assessment
