The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform is currently offering bursaries to qualifying applicants who are South African citizens and wish to commence with tertiary studies during the 2014 academic year in one of the following fields of study. Females and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Fields of study to be funded through this bursary and minimum requirements:

Bsc in Land Surveying/Geomatics | Mathematics and Physical Science |
Bsc in Town and Regional Planning/Urban Design | Mathematics, Geography and/or Physical Science |
Bsc/BA in Geo-Informatics/ Geographic Information Science | Mathematics and Physical Science |
National Diploma in Surveying/ Cartography | Mathematics and Physical Science |
National Diploma in Town and Regional Planning | Mathematics and/or Physical Science and Geography |
Postgraduate studies (Honours/Masters in Geo-informatics / Geographic Information Science) | It is a statutory requirement in terms of the PLATO Act (Act 40 of 1984) and the DPSA OSD that candidates must meet the requirements for registration with the Council for Professional and Technical Surveyors (PLATO) after completion of their studies. Consequently it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the programme offered by the university is accredited by PLATO. |
