2014 Capricorn District Municipality FET Bursaries

Are you a resident of the Capricorn District Municipality? Are you financially needy and wish to study further, but because of lack of funds you couldn’t? Well, there is hope as the Capricorn District Municipalities is inviting residents of its localities (these are Polokwane, Molemole, Aganang, Lepelle-Nkumpi, Blouberg local municipalities) to apply for 2014 Further Education and Training bursaries for studies at either Lebowakgomo FET College, Capricorn FET College or Seshego FET College.

What are the requirements?

For your application to be considered you have to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • You must be a resident of Capricorn District and be able to provide proof from your local municipality or tribal office confirming your permanent residency status.
  • You must have passed Grade 12/ Matric with good marks in either 2012 or 2013.
  • Be from a financially poor background.
  • Be willing to study towards any of the following subjects:
    • Built environment;
    • Civil engineering; or
    • A water-related qualification.
  • Be willing to study at either Lebowakgomo FET College, Capricorn FET College or Seshego FET College.
  • You should not be currently financed by any bursary scheme or programme.
  • You must be able to provide your parent (s)’s proof of income in the past twelve months. Or if your parent was never employed in the past 12 months, an affidavit by him/her/them confirming such unemployment.

How to apply?

To apply follow the following instructions very carefully:

  • Write a motivational letter on why you should be considered for a bursary.
  • Click here to download the Capricorn District Municipality 2014 FET Bursary Application Form. Fill it in. (If you cannot download the form on this website, please visit your local municipal offices or district offices and ask for the form.)
  • Put together the following documents:
    • Certified copies of:
      • Your valid South African ID document;
      • Your valid Matric/Grade 12 certificate;
      • Your family members’ valid ID copies and certificates (in case of family members below 16-years-of-age);
    • Original documents of:
      • Proof of income of your parent (s) [Original PAYSLIPS for employed parent(s) or BANK STAMPED STATEMENTS for self-employed parents];
      • An AFFIDAVIT to confirm/attest unemployment or lack of income [for unemployed parents]

Please note the following:

  • If you are successful, you will be expected to apply for National Student Financial Aid Scheme financial assistance to cover the other costs such as tuition fees and accommodation fees – because this bursary will only cover full registration fees.
  • Individuals from previously disadvantaged and designated groups are encouraged to apply.
  • Any applications received after the closing date will not be considered.
