Onderstepoort Biological Products Internship / In-Service Training Programme

State-owned veterinary medicine and biological products manufacturer, Onderstepoort Biological Products SOC Limited, is currently recruiting for its  2014 internship programme. Onderstepoort Biological Products invites applications from graduates in the fields of quality control, quality assurances, sales and marketing, and internal audit.  And post-graduated students/graduates in Biotechnology or/and Veterinary Technology. The programme is also open for people with Matric (Grade 12) to be trained in caring for Small Animals and Large Animals.

What are the requirements?

Requirements are based on the internship or in-service training field, please see the minimum requirements below:

Field of internship

Minimum requirements

Small Animals and Large Animals In-Service Training

  • Grade 12/ Matric qualification;

  • Good interpersonal and listening skills

Sales and Marketing

  • Diploma in Marketing or equivalent qualification

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Good listening and interpersonal skills

Risk and Compliance (Internal audit)

  • B Com or equivalent qualification (an Honours degree is preferable)

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Good listening and interpersonal skills

Research and Development

  • BSc (Hons) degree or B Tech in relevant life sciences subjects (Biotechnology or Veterinary Technology)

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Good interpersonal and listening skills

Quality Assurance

  • Diploma in quality assurance or equivalent qualification

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of GMP or ISO

  • Good interpersonal and listening skills

Quality Control

  • BSc degree or equivalent qualification

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Good interpersonal or listening skills

Please note:

  • Interns will be paid a monthly of R4 500 for the duration of the 12-month internship programme;
  • Interns will be based in Pretoria North for the duration of the internship. Onderstepoort Biological Products will not cover any relocation or living costs other than the monthly stipend to successful candidates;

History of Onderstepoort Biological Products

The outbreak of rinderpest in South Africa led in 1908 to the establishment of the Onderstepoort Veterinary Research Institute, which became a national centre for the investigation, diagnosis and prevention of the spread of animal diseases. It brought fame, a British knighthood and a nation’s lasting gratitude to its founder and pioneer in the early battles against animal disease, Sir Arnold Theiler.
