Primedia-owned online news and entertainment website iafrica.com is inviting applications for its Entertainment Intern position to be based at offices in Woodstock, Cape Town. This is a full-time internship offered to young South Africans with an interest in online journalism and reporting of entertainment news. The intern’s tasks will include re-writing content for the iafrica.com entertainment news with news pieces related to international celebrity, music and movies, uploading content to the iafrica.com website and sub-editing. The intern will also be afforded opportunities to write original content.
What are the requirements?
- Have a degree or diploma in journalism, new media or a related study area;
- Have a strong ability to write and edit online content;
- Have a strong command of the English language;
- Be a spelling and grammar perfectionist;
- Have an obsession with accuracy and fact-checking;
- Be a team-player;
- Be able to pitch ideas for features and other articles;
- Have an entrenched social media presence and an above average knowledge Pinrest, Facebook, Twitter and blogging platforms;
- Have good research skills and good general knowledge;
- Have an interest in popular culture.
