CSIR Environmental Management Internships

The CSIR has an Internship opportunity for an Intern in Management Services who will assist with operational efficiency, effectiveness and implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) in order to achieve compliance to ISO 14001:2015. This position is based in Pretoria.
Key responsibilities:
Under supervision of the Environmental Manager; the Intern will assist with the following:
• Implement EMS requirements according to planned arrangements;
• Monitor and report on the implementation progress in the unit(s);
• Assist with waste management audits and inspections;
• Manage corrective and preventive action(s) ensuring that all related actions are duly implemented at all relevant areas;
• Update and report on CSIR’s energy, water and waste statistics;
• Facilitate environmental training (waste management, environmental awareness and induction.) for CSIR employees;
• Develop monthly environmental topics as per the environmental calendar and post on intraweb;
• Collect and consolidate waste information for operational unit’s inventory
Qualifications, skills and experience:
• A national diploma in environmental management or natural science. A Bachelor’s degree would be advantageous;
• Knowledge in ISO 14001:2015 standard;
• Exposure to 14001;
• Presentation skills;
• Good written and oral communication skills.
