The South African Weather Service Is inviting application for its 2016 Weather Observation Learnerships to be based at its Regional Training Centre in Pretoria Gauteng, from February 2017. Applications are invited from young South Africans with a Matric / Grade 12 qualification. On successful completion of the learnership candidates will be awarded a National Certificate: Weather Observation and there is a chance that they may be appointed on positions at regional offices across South Africa. Learners will be paid a monthly learnership allowance for their duration at the Regional Training Centre (about 10 months).
What are the requirements?
In order to be considered candidates have to meet the following minimum requirements:
- Have a Grade 12 / Matric certificate with a 50% pass or higher (symbol D) in Physical Science & Mathematics (not Maths Literacy);
- Be willing to obtain a driver’s license during the learnership at their own cost, should they not already have it;
- Be willing to work “shifts”;
- Have good interpersonal skills;
- Be computer literate
