CSIR 2016/17 ICT Operations Internships

Original text: The CSIR has Internship opportunities for two Interns in the ICT Services Centre. The incumbents will do first-line support to end-users and ICT operations within the CSIR. These positions are based in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:

โ€ข Assemble, configure and support of end point devices, inclusive of the necessary user support required;
โ€ข Deploy and support network and telephony infrastructure;
โ€ข Provide professional customer services;
โ€ข Support and Administrate ICT servers, back-ups jobs and storage systems;
โ€ข Provide support in line with CSIRโ€™s processes and procedures;
โ€ข Perform necessary debugging on all equipment to ensure proper functionality, and help out on all projects that involve end-user support;
โ€ข Perform basic network and telephony service support, installations, configuration and providing general user advise where required;
โ€ข Troubleshoot software and hardware;
โ€ข Manage, maintain and roll-out desktop;
โ€ข Provide support on both network and stand-alone printers;
โ€ข Ensure desktop functionality is available and accessible at all times to CSIR end-users;
โ€ข Ensure quality service is provided to clients;
โ€ข Support Microsoft and Linux desktops in a Novell environment.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

โ€ข A National Diploma in information technology;
โ€ข A+ and N+ would be an added advantage;
โ€ข Basic computer knowledge;
โ€ข Customer service orientation;
โ€ข Ability to manage stress;
โ€ข Ability to work with a team;
โ€ข Communication skills;
โ€ข Ability to handle difficult customers;
โ€ข Ability to take initiative.
