New Vaal Colliery 2017 Learnerships | Anglo American (Only Matric OR N2 required)

Anglo American’s thermal coal operation in the Free State – the New Vaal Colliery – is inviting young South Africans interested in a career in mining to apply for their 2017 learnership opportunities. The learnership requires applicants to have either a Grade 12/ Matric qualification OR an N2 technical qualification. Applicants must have passed Maths and Science in Matric OR have a Technical N2 with subjects as listed below under requirements.
Which learnership areas are available?
The Anglo American Learnerships are available for people interested in following a mining related career in any of the following occupations: Electrician, Auto Electrician, Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, Boilermaker (Plater), and Rigger.
What are the requirements for applying for an Anglo American Learnership?
If you have a Grade 12/ Matric qualification with Maths and Physical Science, you can apply for any of these learnership occupations. If you have an N2 Technical qualification you must have passed the subjects listed on each occupation:
| Electrician: | Maths, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Electrical Theory. |
| Auto Electrician: | Maths, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Motor Electrical Theory/Electrical Trade Theory. |
| Fitter: | Maths, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Fitting & Machining Trade Theory. |
| Diesel Mechanic: | Maths, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Diesel or Motor Trade Theory. |
| Boilermaker (Plater): | Maths , Engineering Science, Plater Theory, Plating and Structural Steel Drawings. |
| Rigger: | Maths, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawings, Rigger Trade Theory. |
- Minimum Symbol E (40%).
- A valid K53 provincial driver’s license.
- Candidates must be able and prepared to undergo a psychometric assessment.
- Must be in possession of or able to obtain a certificate of fitness.
- Must be able and willing to work shifts, standby & call outs when required.
- Be able to cope with pressure, be innovative & a self-starter.
- Be able to identify faults without supervision.
- Experience in the Mining Sector will be advantageous.
- Certified copies of qualifications, driver’s license and ID Document must be attached to all applications.
