Citi 2018 Investment Banking Internships (Various but relevant qualifications)

Citi is inviting applications for its 2018 Investment Banking Internship (6 months + option to extend for an additional 6 months). The internship is interactive and hands on, as the intern will be an integral member of Citi’s South African investment banking team, ensuring that the successful graduate will benefit from the stimulating and effective on the job training environment.  Citi recruits graduates from a wide variety of backgrounds and looks for graduates with excellent academic track records, strong interpersonal skills and solid leadership capabilities. Top performing candidates will be considered for the IBD Analyst programme.

The internship runs for 6 months and starts in March 2018.

Job Purpose:

To support the South African investment banking team and work closely with Managing Directors, Directors, Vice Presidents, Associates and Analysts from across South Africa, the UK and US, as they provide financial advisory services to their international and domestic blue chip client base.  Candidates will play a full part in the deal origination and execution process.

Job Background/context:

The South African investment banking team provides financial advisory services on a wide range of strategic transactions (including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and re-structurings) and capital-raising assignments (including debt and equity financing).

The team services South Africa’s largest companies across all sectors and provides the full spectrum of Citi products.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to interact with all of Citi’s sector teams (e.g. Technology and Media, Metals and Mining, Consumer Retail, Oil and Gas, Industrials, etc.) as well as Citi’s product teams (Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Equity-Linked Capital Markets, Corporate Equity Derivatives, etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

Collecting and analysing company information and financial data to assist with transactions and deal origination, including:

•Conducting fundamental industry research;
•Quantitative analysis;
•Reviewing and organising financial data;
•Managing the transaction process (organisation of data room, QandA sessions, etc.);
Analysing financial data, using and developing financial models, including:
•Stand-alone company valuations;
•Discounted cash flow analysis;
•Comparable and precedent transaction valuations;
Presentation preparation, requiring:
•Preparation of transaction presentations, pitch books, management presentations, information and offering memorandums, as well as other ad-hoc deal materials; Interaction with internal industry, product, legal and compliance teams as well as client management teams
