CSIR 2019 Civil Engineering Internship

The CSIR has an Internship opportunity in the Transport Infrastructure Engineering competence area within the Built Environment unit. The programme is designed to provide graduates with experience and understanding of research and development and the implementation thereof in projects. It is spread across various fields, with a strong focus in science, engineering, technology and mathematics. This opportunity is based in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:

Contribute to basic desktop research and literature searches; Develop research skills and write reports; Assist with related laboratory and field investigations; Collect, clean and analyse data; Any other duties job-related tasks.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

A degree in Civil Engineering or similar qualification or higher; Good knowledge of engineering principles; Good demonstration and in-depth understanding of theory, with the ability to apply knowledge into practical; A strong work ethic and the ability to work under supervision within a dynamic team environment; Must be innovative, have sound technical knowledge, integrity and lateral thinking ability; Knowledge and appreciation of a cross-disciplinary project team environment; Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute across the boundaries imposed by classical scientific disciplines.
