Whether your dream career is in sports journalism, anchoring/reporting, or becoming a sports marketing expert, there is a great opportunity for you here at Salem NY to immerse you into the world of digital and on-air sports media. Along with the robust daily programming of AM970 and AM570, we carry a plethora of sports broadcasts for several schools and professional teams.

Teams we work with include; Army football, Syracuse Football, Syracuse basketball, St. Johns Basketball, Seton Hall Basketball, NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA. As a Sports Production Intern, you will learn what it takes to put together a sports broadcast line up/schedule by working closely with the Sports Director and learning the behind the scenes, start to finish, of what it takes to broadcast games on the air. Your will also assist in the promotion of these teams and games. Start and end dates are flexible.

Hours: 10-15/week—10:00am-5:00pm, 2-3 days/week. Hours/day are flexible.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Sports Director with daily tasks and special projects.
  • Assisting with scheduling, writing on air promos for games, managing weekly alerts to media outlets about the weekly game schedule.
  • Assisting with the organization of station events at/with certain teams.
  • Posting to/managing social media to promote games.
  • Staying up to date on sports current events, particularly, relating to the teams we are affiliated with.
  • Must be efficient in Excel.

We offer internships during all academic semesters. (Spring, Summer, and Fall).
