MHSC 2020 Corporate Governance Internships

The South African Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) is inviting application for their corporate governance internships from young South Africa graduates with degree qualifications in Internal Auditing, Accounting or Law. Interns will be appointed on an 18-months fixed term contract.

What are the requirements?

Candidates must have the following qualifications in order to be considered:

  • Matric, and
  • Degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting or Law. ย 

Key Performance Areas: The successful candidate will be trained in, but not limited to the followings: ย  LEGAL โ€ขAssist to updating the compliance universe with the legislative changes. ย  GOVERNANCE โ€ขAssist to create awareness of governance responsibilities โ€ขFacilitate training arrangements for Council and Advisory Committee members. ย  RISK MANAGEMENT โ€ขScribe and assist with administration with risk assessments โ€ขAssist collection and collation of evidence for updates on risk mitigations โ€ขAssist review risk register updates and verify with evidenceย  ย  AUDIT โ€ขAssist with Monitoring implementation of audit findings โ€ขPrepare report and file for quarterly reviewย  โ€ขAssist business units to prepare for upcoming auditsย  ย  ย  STRATEGIC PLAN โ€ขAssist to create awareness on strategic planning โ€“dates for submission, requirements for delivery of targets, โ€ขMonitoring implementation of strategic plan โ€ขAssist with the development of report on the implementation of strategic plan ย  COMPLIANCE โ€ขAssist to monitor/ review compliance with regulations, legislation and internal policies โ€ขAssist to draft compliance reports ย  ADMINISTRATION โ€ขPerform quality assurance on documentation โ€ขOrganise meetings, minute taking, prepare documentation for the meetings, booking of venue and ensure all resources required are available โ€ขAssist to Keep track of budgets by assisting with procurement requests/ plans โ€ขAssist with preparation of presentations for training, EXCO, ARC, RCMS, Council and DMR. etc. ย  PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY FOR TRAINING โ€ขEnsure a training and development plan is developed and signed off.ย  โ€ขEnsure adequate assistance is provided to ensure the training and development plan is achieved. โ€ขAssist Corporate Governance Unit to develop standard training and development plan for interns (within the Unit) ย  Personality Traits โ€ขOrganised. โ€ขEthical. โ€ขTime conscious. โ€ขTeam player. โ€ขWilling to go the extra mile. โ€ขWilling to be corrected and learn. ย
