The South African Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) is inviting application for their corporate governance internships from young South Africa graduates with degree qualifications in Internal Auditing, Accounting or Law. Interns will be appointed on an 18-months fixed term contract.
What are the requirements?
Candidates must have the following qualifications in order to be considered:
- Matric, and
- Degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting or Law. ย
Key Performance Areas: The successful candidate will be trained in, but not limited to the followings: ย LEGAL โขAssist to updating the compliance universe with the legislative changes. ย GOVERNANCE โขAssist to create awareness of governance responsibilities โขFacilitate training arrangements for Council and Advisory Committee members. ย RISK MANAGEMENT โขScribe and assist with administration with risk assessments โขAssist collection and collation of evidence for updates on risk mitigations โขAssist review risk register updates and verify with evidenceย ย AUDIT โขAssist with Monitoring implementation of audit findings โขPrepare report and file for quarterly reviewย โขAssist business units to prepare for upcoming auditsย ย ย STRATEGIC PLAN โขAssist to create awareness on strategic planning โdates for submission, requirements for delivery of targets, โขMonitoring implementation of strategic plan โขAssist with the development of report on the implementation of strategic plan ย COMPLIANCE โขAssist to monitor/ review compliance with regulations, legislation and internal policies โขAssist to draft compliance reports ย ADMINISTRATION โขPerform quality assurance on documentation โขOrganise meetings, minute taking, prepare documentation for the meetings, booking of venue and ensure all resources required are available โขAssist to Keep track of budgets by assisting with procurement requests/ plans โขAssist with preparation of presentations for training, EXCO, ARC, RCMS, Council and DMR. etc. ย PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY FOR TRAINING โขEnsure a training and development plan is developed and signed off.ย โขEnsure adequate assistance is provided to ensure the training and development plan is achieved. โขAssist Corporate Governance Unit to develop standard training and development plan for interns (within the Unit) ย Personality Traits โขOrganised. โขEthical. โขTime conscious. โขTeam player. โขWilling to go the extra mile. โขWilling to be corrected and learn. ย
