Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) is a professional institution that offers professional health sciences training and education in a range of fields through excellence in teaching, learning, innovative research and community engagement. SMU is situated in GaRankuwa (North of Pretoria) and the following position(s) is/are currently available: Graphic Design Internship Ref: 51/2021/BGM/Intern . Mindful of the prevailing socio-economic conditions in South Africa, and in support of the national transformation agenda, Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) would like to provide internships to deserving young unemployed citizens. In this way, SMU hopes to provide experience to young South Africans, and give them the opportunity to be employable and to compete in the job market.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Generate Academic/Scientific posters for conferences as well as university promotional material (e.g. Invitations, programmes, notices etc.)
- Assist with record keeping
- Coordinate and collaborate with other units within the department on material needed for projects
- Assist academic staff with designing lecture material like illustrations, diagrams and scientific drawings
- Perform general day to day administration such as Laminating, printing, colour copying etc.)
- Attend to the needs of the users/departments to resolve queries
- Liaise with Manager on addressing any problems or related administration problems
- Contribute to the overall development of SMU and actively improve institutional culture
- Any other related duties assigned by the office
What are the requirements?
To be considered, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- A three-year post-matric Graphic Design qualification (BA Graphic Design Degree, Bachelor of Arts or equivalent) – transcript to be attached
- New entrant into the Graphic Design environment (in other words you must not have held Graphic design internship before)
- The incumbent should have no prior Graphic Design working experience
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw X6)
- Must be a South African citizen
