The South African 2025 school calendar has been gazetted. The school calendar is relevant for public schools and those schools aligned to the Department of Basic Education calendar. There are four school terms (see table below), making up a total of 199 school days for learners and 203 school days for school staff (teachers and support staff who will either return to work early or leave after the term ends). Further more there are special school holidays, on which the schools will be closed, these are alight to the holidays in the South African calender.

In addition to the above school terms, with 43 days of rest (including weekend during school recess), the following are official special school days on which schools will be closed:
