The Shared Services: Finance unit within CSIR has a vacancy for an Internship: Project Administrator who will be responsible for financial administration, cost distribution and project administration support; distribution of standard system.

Key responsibilities:

  • Register projects and standard contracts in finance system. Assist with preparation of budgets
  • Day-to-day administration of projects
  • Ensuring that all contracts are supported by formal documentation i.e. contracts/order from client
  • Prepare invoices according to contract requirements
  • Assist operational staff  with enquiries on expenses incurred against projects
  • Assist  with income declaration according to contract requirements.
  • Produce and interrogate system reports.
  • General Ledger: Allocate costs; prepare and process journals; reconcile general ledger account; make follow-ups on all outstanding items
  • Review and maintain the data integrity of projects

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Internship: A BCom degree.
  • In-Service Trainee: Studying towards a BCom degree or a National Diploma for which practical experience is a requirement in obtaining the qualification
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Mathematical and analytical ability.
  • Record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work accurate and pay attention to detail.
  • Knowledge on VAT.
  • General knowledge on double-entry accounting concepts of debits and credits and different methods of accounting including cash and accrual basis.
  • Knowledge and understanding of internal controls and the need for policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in teams is essential.
  • Problem-solving and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment.

Requirements

A post-graduate Honours degree in Industrial Psychology or Psychometry and able to commence with a Psychometry internship.
Competencies required include commercial awareness, quality orientation, persuasiveness, problem solving and analysis, oral and written communication and planning and organising. Creativity, computer literacy and the ability to work in a team in a dynamic environment are essential.
A high level of proficiency in Business English is required.
Knowledge of HPCSA regulations, ethics underlying the use and interpretation of psychometrics, relevant psychometric instruments, OD theories and principles and competency modelling and design would be an advantage.
An initial training period would be necessary to familiarise with the policies, procedures and instruments used.
Candidates must be prepared to travel to the stations around South Africa.
After the 6 month internship, candidates will have gained all required hours for a Psychometry internship program.

Specifications

Full time, 6 Month Internship opportunity in the Organisational Development and Selection department of Comair Limited, based in Kempton Park. The contract will begin in January 2014.The OD department boasts fully independent Psychometric testing facilities and the opportunity to grow through exposure to a wide scope of psychometric test application in Organisational Development.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • To conduct psychometric assessments in line with external regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • To conduct feedback sessions with managers and candidates
  • To communicate issues regarding test providers, assessments, regulations, ethical issues, assessment conditions and service delivery according to agreements so that they may be addressed .
  • To build relationships with all departments in order to provide high quality services and to encourage feedback to improve service.
  • To ensure Test Centre administration is updated at all times and is strictly processed according to the policies, procedures, rules, regulations and timeframes set out internally and by external regulators
  • To assist with initiatives related to OD in order to ensure optimal learning opportunities are capitalised on.

Key responsibilities:

  • Source, develop and appropriately package content in order to communicate effectively the CSIR’s implementation achievements, implementation projects, outputs and outcomes, implementation staff profiles and social impact through various channels platforms, and media. This will include active participation in all layers of the process,  which includes:
    • Conceptualisation: Sourcing, researching, formulating, brainstorming and pitching content matter as well as planning the execution.
    • Copy writing: Producing quality copy in short and long formats for various materials and channels – this includes (but is not limited to) press releases, web and intraweb stories, brochures, presentations, advertisements and video.
    • Supplier liaison: Negotiating, planning and liaising with suppliers and service providers to produce final products under the supervision of the Communication Manager and in line with CSIR procurement policy
  • Entrench the CSIR  and project brands in CSIR Strategic Initiatives Implementation Unit  and  encourage adherence to brand standards and coordination of unit brand collateral
  • Offer comprehensive operational support in terms of administrative duties for the Communication Department
  • Assist in the planning and execution of unit events such as stakeholder visits, conferences, staff social events, etc.
  • Write up all case studies, trials, tests and progress for inclusion in proposals, funder progress reports, presentations, brochures, websites, editorial pieces, media releases and newsletters;
  • Develop material for public consumption, including guideline documentation, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), etc;
  • Serve as entry point for enquiries relating to projects;
  • Participate in meetings to keep abreast of latest developments, recording of these sessions, communicating outcomes, setting up sessions;
  • Generate and manage web content for pages and project-related websites; and
  • Contribute to the building of a positive image of the CSIR and its implementation activities, and that of its stakeholders.

Qualifications and skills:

  • The relevant Bachelor’s degreejournalism or equivalent.
  • Exposure in a field which required science writing as primary deliverable. Proven ability to extract information from an interview or document, write in popularised style and deliver a high standard of written work;
  • Experience of and proven ability to work as part of a team;
  • Knowledge of photography and new and digital media would be a recommendation
  • Willingness to travel to sites where the project team is working.

On the Pan Africa Graduate programme our ‘real job’ philosophy ensures you will benefit from authentic experiences designed to accelerate your career development. You will build your expertise and knowledge by completing three 12-month rotations within your chosen discipline and there could be opportunities to spend one of these rotations in a different African market.

Support and Development

 

The three-year programme includes both functional training and leadership development. Functional training helps you gain the skills, knowledge and experience that will form the foundation of your career with Brandhouse. Meanwhile, we help you build your leadership expertise so you can encourage thinking, stimulate people and drive change.
There will be opportunities for you to explore other avenues for development at regular reviews with your line manager. In addition, there are ‘connect and development’ events each year, which will help you raise your profile in the company and learn from some of our most experienced leaders.

1. Commercial Graduate

Essential qualifications and qualities – Sales

 

We are looking for graduates with:
• Passion, energy and finely tuned commercial awareness.
• The ability to build strong relationships, influence others and work well under pressure.

•You will be a real team player and a forward thinker, excited by innovation.
•You should have, or be expected to gain, excellent academic results in your degree and although your degree discipline is not significant, you will need to have a real interest in sales and being genuinely excited about the opportunity to work in the commercial field

•In possession of a of a valid code EB drivers license

2. Finance Graduate

Essential qualifications and qualities – Finance
We are looking for graduates with:
• Analytical abilities and strong problem-solving skills.
• Passion, energy and finely tuned commercial awareness.
• The ability to build strong relationships, influence others and work well under pressure.
•You will be a real team player and a forward thinker, excited by innovation.
•You should have, or be expected to gain, an excellent academic result in your degree in finance or a related subject, such as accounting, economics or business.

3. HR Graduate

We are looking for graduates with:
• The ability to build strong relationships, influence others and work well under pressure.

4. Marketing Graduate

•You should have, or be expected to gain, excellent academic results in your degree and although your degree discipline is not significant, you will need to have a real interest in marketing and being genuinely excited about the opportunity to work in this field.

5. Supply Chain Graduate

We are looking for graduates with:
• Passion, energy and finely tuned commercial awareness.
• Analytical abilities and strong problem-solving skills.
• The ability to build strong relationships, influence others and work well under pressure.
•You will be a real team player and a forward thinker, excited by innovation.
•You should have, or be expected to gain, an excellent academic result in your degree, in a supply-related field, such as chain management, food science, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering or procurement.

KPMG’s Internal Audit trainee position is an exciting and stimulating experience that equips graduates with a combination of Internal audit, risk management and business skills. In the initial three-year training contract staff receive a combination of formal and practical on-the-job training to further enhance their skill set.
