The Limpopo provincial government department responsible for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism in the province is inviting applications for its 2016 internships in various fields. The internship programme will last for a period of 12-months and will pay annual stipend of R62 522.43 (which equates to R5 210.20 per month) for the duration of the internships. Applications are open to South African graduates in the fields listed below, who are between the ages of 18 and 35 years and reside in the Limpopo Province.

What are the requirements?

In addition to the qualification requirements listed in the table below, the following requirements are also applicable:

  • Be a South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35 years old;
  • Be resident in Limpopo;
  • Must have never participated in a government internship programme before; and
  • Must meet the minimum educational qualification requirements listed in the table below:

The South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement / SAASTA (which is an agency of the Department of Science and Technology) is inviting applications from young unemployed South Africans with a national diploma, BTech, or degree in communication, journalism or science-related field to apply for their 2016 Youth Science Journalism Internship Programme which will be based across five South African provinces (Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West.

What are the requirements?

  • Must have either of the following: National Diploma, BTech degree, Bachelor’s degree or Honours degree in any of the following fields: Journalism, Communication, Science or related field;
  • Be computer literate;
  • Have good creative writing, interpersonal and radio skills;
  • While not a basic requirement; a drivers’ license will serve as an advantage.

Note: Interns will paid as follows, depending on highest qualification attained: R4 000 (National Diploma), R4 500 (BTech / Bachelor’s degree), R5 000 (Honours degree).

The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) is inviting applications for 2016 / 2017 opportunities for more than 250 openings for internships, experiential training, agricultural interns and bursaries for B-Tech, honours, masters and doctorate.

The opportunities are divided into:

  1. Post-graduate bursaries. There are 20 openings for these categories. And they pay for courses starting at degree level (B-tech only), Honours, Masters and Doctorate (PhD) level.
  2. Young agricultural export technologists. A three-year relevant qualification (degree or national diploma) is a requirement. There are 25 opportunities.
  3. Internships and Experiential training opportunities (in various study field)

And the money?

This programme pays a stipend. And it states that for interns it will pay R75 175 per year – the allowance may be lower depending on the level of qualification.
