The Intern: Outreach will contribute towards the efficient co-ordination of the communications plans and stakeholder management processes of the organization. The Intern will report to the Deputy Manager’s Outreach.

Responsibilities/Duties

Key performance areas: Assist staff with co-coordinating communication plans, that is, both internal and external; maintaining liaison with all major communications stakeholders including the print and electronic media, managing the publicity plans of the province, promoting the internal publication tools that are operating in the province, monitoring progress in the communications area, liaising with all stakeholders relevant for elections, developing partnerships with stakeholders in order to achieve electoral goals, preparing reports and disseminates information, coordinating Continuous Democracy Education programs, capturing and approving of events on the Outreach Management Systems.

General Administrative support services: Record minutes, write reports, handle routine enquiries, make photocopies, send and receive facsimiles, distribute documents/packages to various stakeholders as required. Keep and maintain the filing system for the office, Keep and maintain incoming and outgoing correspondence of the component and coordinate meetings. Assist with selected duties so as to obtain exposure to Corporate Services and Electoral Operations, etc.

Requirements

Basic requirements:  Applicants must be in possession of Matric / N3 certificate and a tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma) in Communications / Humanities (a post-graduate qualification will be an added advantage). 

The candidate must possess good communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. He/ she must be computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel and possess the following attributes: ability to work under pressure; be prepared to work long hours; pro-active; decisive; confident and be service driven.

The Railway Safety Regulator invites unemployed graduates to apply for an internship programme for the 2020/21  financial period to be based at their Waterfall, Midrand (Head Office) office. The internship will run for a period of 12 months and is open to graduates under the age of  35 years.

The purpose of the internship programme is to offer practical experience to undergraduates in possession of a National Diploma or Degree in any of the following fields, however, a postgraduate qualification will be advantageous:

  • Human Resources Management
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Graphic Designing
  • Financial Accounting or Supply Chain Management
  • Legal or LLB
  • Internal Audit

Applications must be accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae,  a  cover letter with three (3) referees and certified copies of Identity Document and qualifications (please provide the SAQA accreditation in the case of foreign qualifications).
