Responsibilities/Duties

Financial Administration: Capture requisitions check correctness of submitted documents, rental accounts and submit regular reports and handle incoming telephone calls. Process payment for local offices from various districts

Supply Chain: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to procurement of goods and services. Obtain quotations and follow up on submission of invoices. Requirements

Basic requirements: Applicants must have completed and be in possession of Matric / N3 certificate and a tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma) in Finance/ Financial Management, Accounting or Economics (a post-graduate qualification will be an added advantage).

The candidate must possess good communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. He/ she must be computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel and possess the following attributes: ability to work under pressure; be prepared to work long hours; pro-active; decisive; confident and be service driven.

  • Validation of all purchases, sales, corporate actions & income events.
  • Completion of cash, share, expense, interest, dividends and withholding tax reconciliations.

Pension Fund Accounting provides monthly fund accounting services to asset owner clients within the UKMEA region.

Fund Accountants within this team are responsible for:

  • Monthly fund NAV computations
  • Validation of all month-end reporting, including fund trade activity, income activity and security pricing
  • Completion of daily and monthly cash, security and IM reconciliations

Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge:

  • A basic understanding of accounting principles
  • A basic understanding of financial markets and financial instruments
  • A good working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Strong numerical ability and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to cope with a steep learning curve and take a proactive approach to learning
  • Ability to work in a pressurized, deadline-driven environment is essential

Level of Education:

  • Programmes: B.Com. / B.Com (Honours) / B.Bus.Sci. / similar
  • Majors: Accounting / Auditing / Finance / similar

Experience:

  • No working experience required

The Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) is inviting applications from suitably qualified South African graduates with a BCom or BTech degree in Accounting or Management Accounting for its Finance Internship Programme which will run for a period of 18 months. A monthly stipend of R6 480 will be paid for the duration of the internship programme.

What are the requirements?

To be considered for this role you must have:

Minimum Education: BTech or BCom in Accounting or Management Accounting.

Key performance areas:

The successful candidate will be trained in, but not limited to the following:

  • Help with month-end financial reports
  • Work under supervision of the accountants
  • Help with bank statements reconciliation, as well as accounts payable and receivable
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliation
  • Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports
  • Ensure the completion of assigned tasks in line with established deadline
  • Assist with the semi-annual physical inventory
  • Study the accounting policies and processes of the organization and abide by them
  • Compose and input journal entries into Great plains
  • File and scan accounting documents
  • Assist the coordinator with month-end financial reports
  • Manage monthly tracking of physical inventory
  • Support the payment processing team
