Barloworld Equipment is inviting applications for its Mechanical Assistant positions which have recently become vacant at its Bellville offices. Applicants should have a Grade 12 certificate.

Key Outputs:

Assist the mechanic(s) in performing moderate to complex maintenance and repair work on machines and / or components
Know which tools are used for which jobs and ensure the mechanic / technician has them within reach
Physically lift, keep in place and / or move up to 20kg or use appropriate lifting and slinging equipment for objects larger in size
Clean and maintain facilities and equipment
Assist artisan to obtain and check parts for particular jobs
Maintain a safe and orderly workplace

Qualification, Experience and Competencies:

Grade12
Ability to obtain certification as forklift operator within 90 days of appointment
Ability to obtain certification as overhead / jib crane operator within 90 days of appointment
Ability to follow instructions under supervision
Drivers licence – Code B will be an added advantage

Barloworld Transport Apprenticeships (Only Matric OR N2 required)

South African logistics company, Barloworld Transport, is inviting applications from young South Africans with a Grade 12 certificate OR a minimum of an N2 qualification OR an NCV level 4 to apply for their three-year long apprenticeship programme to start in 2015 at their depots in KwaZulu-Natal (Avoca, Mkondeni and Howick) and Gauteng (Isando, Johannesburg). Apprentices will be paid a monthly allowance for the duration of the apprenticeships.

What are the requirements?

You have to meet the following minimum requirements to be considered:

Have a Grade 12 qualification; OR
Have a minimum of N2 with the following subjects: mathematics, science, technical drawing or diesel trade theory; OR
An NCV Level 4 in an Engineering discipline;
Be a South African citizen;
Not a minimum requirement but advantageous: a valid drivers’ licence.
