The Genesis Educational Foundation Trust (GEFT) bursary is the educational arm of Genesis Analytics – an African economics-based consulting firm. The principal objective of the foundation is to support initiatives to promote the educational and professional development of young people in the designated groups, as described by the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998, in the discipline of economics and related fields.

The GEFT bursary is offered to young South African students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds who are eligible to study towards their Honours or Master’s degree in the overarching fields of Economics or Public Health, and either of their related disciplines at a recognised South African university. We have also extended our bursary programme to those students looking to pursue postgraduate qualifications in Public Health and related disciplines.

Applicants must have achieved a consistent average of 65% and above for their undergraduate and/or Honours degree. The bursary is primarily available to cover tuition fees as well as books and stationery. Dependent on available funds GEFT may be in a position to contribute towards additional needs such as accommodation and transport.

Applications close on 31 August 2021 and our bursary process will run in September and October 2021. To apply and for more details and to apply online CLICK HERE. The successful candidates will be awarded bursaries to study approved degrees as mentioned above in the academic year of 2022.

A complete application must consist of the following:

  • A comprehensive CV
  • A copy of your South African identity document
  • A motivational letter
  • Full academic transcripts from your first year of undergraduate studies to date
  • A writing sample (eg. An essay, proposal, or assignment. This must be a recent submission from the current or previous academic year)

The STANLIB Bursary Sponsorship Programme funds tertiary level education, allowing previously disadvantaged students the opportunity to study at any university in South Africa. The programme has been running since 2005, and has funded 42 students since inception. STANLIB offers a number of bursaries each year for students studying towards the following qualifications:

Finance, Human Resources, Investment Management, Marketing and Communications, IT, Actuarial Science, Economics, and Operations.

Students who are currently in matric, first, second or third year or are completing their Honours degree may apply for these bursaries. People living with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Bursary applications are now open and will close on 31 October 2013.

South Africa’s central bank, the South African Reserve Bank, is offering bursaries to top performers who are currently in Grade 12 or those who recently matriculated. Bursaries will be awarded for FULL-TIME study in fields relevant to the reserve bank’s operations, such as Information Technology (IT), Law, Economics, Finance, Accounting and related fields.

What are the requirements for the Reserve Bank Bursary Programme?

  • A matric with good grades (above 60% aggregate)
  • If you are still in matric, you MUST have obtained more than 60% aggregate in your June exam (the marks are only minimums so aim higher)
  • Must be intending to study towards a qualification relevant to the operations of the Reserve Bank (e.g. Information Technology (IT), Law, Economics, Finance, Accounting or related fields.)
  • Must be intending to study FULL-TIME (Part-time or distance education will not be considered)
  • You have to be planning to study an undergraduate qualification

Return the completed form together with supporting documents (for example Exam results, certificates, university enrolment form (student number), or any other supporting documents) by email to [email protected] OR send them by post or courier to Ms Vinessa Naidoo, Human Resource Department, South African Reserve Bank, 370 Church Street, Pretoria, 0001 before the closing date which is 30 Septermber.

Should you be successful and be funded by the Reserve Bank you will be required to work for the Bank on completion of your studies. While studying you will have to reapply for the bursary each year. The bursary will cover your tuition fees, books, and university accommodation. You will be required to work for the Reserve Bank during vacation holidays. If you are shortlisted for the bursary, you will be interviewed and tested.

South Africa’s National Treasury invites exceptional matric scholars and/or university students to apply for their bursary programme for starting in the 2013 academic year. This bursary programme is aimed at only those South African students and scholars who hard-workers. “If you are in matric: You have a grade 12 certificate with university exemption and an aggregate of 65% or higher . OR If you are already in university: You have obtained an average of 60% or higher for the previous year of study at university ”.

Who qualifies for the National Treasury Bursary Programme 2013?

  • You are a South African citizen
  • You meet the entry requirements for your chosen field of study (provide proof ofregistration or provisional acceptance at the university)
  • Financial need
  • You must be studying or intending to study in one or more of the fields stated below:
  1. Economics
  2. Accounting
  3. Taxation
  4. Econometrics
  5. Statistics/Mathematics
  • If you are in matric: You have a grade 12 certificate with university exemptionand an aggregate of 65% or higher
