Are you currently an environmental studies/sciences student and require a bursary for your studies? WSP | Golder in Africa offers bursaries for engineering and environmental students at recognised universities in South Africa. We support our bursary candidates through vacation work and employment opportunities after studies where possible, giving them the opportunity to not only make their mark on the world but to build a legacy.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

If you are a passionate and dedicated Environmental Sciences student, currently enrolled for a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science (Honours)  and meet the following further requirements, please send us your application.

  • In the 2nd, 3rd or Final year of your BSc Environmental Sciences degree
  • Have achieved a minimum average of 70 % and passed all subjects for your 2021 academic year to date.
  • Please note that students should not be in receipt of another bursary or scholarship to be eligible.
  • Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, but all South African Citizens are welcome to apply.

Proposed majors include, but are not limited to:

  • Environmental Science
  • Geology
  • Hydrology / Hydrogeology

Are you a university student studying towards a degree in any of the science fields listed below? A matric/grade 12 learner planning on taking up any of the science studies listed below in 2015? Are you eager to have your studies in 2015 funded by one of the CSIR 2015 Bursaries? The CSIR is offering both post-graduate and undergraduate bursaries to deserving students/learners who are performing above average in their studies, you have to obtain an average of at least 65% in your studies. If your average is below 65%, you do not qualify.

Which qualifications will the CSIR 2015 Bursary Programme cover?

Undergraduate: You have to be studying or planning to study towards a a Bsc OR BEng  in any of the following fields:

*BSc/BEng undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the information and communication technologies fields:

  • Electronic
  • Software
  • Computer Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Artificial Intelligence

*BSc/BEng undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the defence and security fields:

  • Electronic
  • Electrical (light current)

  • Computer Engineering
  • Applied Mathematics and Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biomedical Engineering

*BSc/BEng undergraduate studies in the information security fields:

*BSc/BEng postgraduate studies in the natural resources and the environmental sciences fields:

  • Chemistry

  • Geography and Environmental Management with a focus on Waste management

What is covered in the CSIR 2015 Bursary?

The bursary is a comprehensive bursary which will pay for your registration fees, tuition fees, books, food, computer and other related expenses.

How to apply for a CSIR Bursary?

To apply for this bursary you must have the following ready:

  • An updated CV, a certified copy of your ID document, and your latest results – all should be scanned.
  • Remember that you must be a South African citizen who will be enrolled for any of the qualifications above at a South African University in 201.

The MQA bursary scheme was established to increase the number of learners taking careers in the mining and minerals sector. Today the bursary scheme continues to assist learners by offering them the opportunity to study these careers at Higher Education and Training (HET).

The MQA bursary covers full tuition, accommodation, meals and book allowances. The bursary will be awarded to students enrolled in careers identified in the scarce and critical skills list, particularly in core mining related disciplines.

Minimum criteria
The minimum criteria required include a strong academic record accompanied by a need for financial assistance. Applicants must also have genuine interest in and knowledge of the mining and minerals sector.

The MQA bursary supports the following core mining disciplines:

  • Mining Engineering
  • Mine Survey
  • Metallurgical Engineering (Extractive only)
  • Geology
  • Environmental Health and Management

Students studying the following disciplines will also be considered, although there are limited bursaries available:

  • Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current only)
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering( Mineral Processing)
  • Electro-Mechanical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Jewellery Design and Manufacturing

Special consideration will be given to female applicants as well as applicants living with disabilities.

The MQA carries a service obligation and successful applicants will be obligated to secure employment within the South African mining and minerals sector for the same amount of years as the sponsored bursary.

Closing date

The closing date for applications is 1 March 2013. Late applications will not be considered.
