The Gauteng Government invites applications for its 2022 Nursing Intake. The bursary applications are open to eligible young South Africans who are also residents of Gauteng. Successful Gauteng Nursing Intake bursary applicants will be placed at the Gauteng College of Nursing to study towards the Diploma in Nursing in 2022 at one of the College campuses: Ann Latsky Campus (Johannesburg); Chris Hani Baragwanath Campus (Soweto); SG Lourens Campus (Pretoria); or Bonalesedi Campus (Laudium).

What are the requirements?

The following subject criteria are required:

  • Senior Certificate: English HG D or SG C, Biology HG D or SG C, Mathematics HG D or SG C and an M score of 17;
  • National Senior Certificate: English Level 4, Life Sciences Level 4, Mathematics Level 4 or Maths Literacy Level 5, and an APS of 27 or more (Life Orientation counts half the score);
  • National Vocational Certificate: 50% in Fundamental Subjects (English First Additional Language, Maths/Maths Literacy, Life Orientation) and 60% in the Vocational Subjects (SA Health Care System, Public Health, The Human Body and Mind and Community Oriented Primary Care);
  • Current Grade 12 learners must meet the National Senior Certificate requirements in their Grade 11 final results. 

To successfully apply and be considered for the training, please take note of the following:

  • Must be a South African citizen, who resides in the Gauteng Province.
  • You must be in possession of one of the following school leaving certificates – a Senior Certificate, a National Senior Certificate, currently in Grade 12 or National Vocational Certificate Primary Health.

How to apply?

You are required to register a profile on the Gauteng Nursing Intake system before you can apply, CLICK HERE TO APPLY.

  • CLOSING DATE: 14 August 2021; NO late applications will be accepted
  • Certified documents will be uploaded on the system, however you will be required to take supporting documents to the selection centre should you be shortlisted.
  • No hand delivered or emailed applications will be accepted, all applications must be done online.

  • Certified documents will be uploaded on the system, however you will be required to take supporting documents to the first choice Nursing College should you be shortlisted.
  • If you have previously registered a profile on the GPG Professional Job Centre website, kindly log in, click on the 2018 nursing intake banner, Update Resume and apply.
  • No hand delivered or emailed applications will be accepted, all applications must be done on this website

Successful applicants will be required:

  • To sign an agreement with the Department of Health
  • To attend lectures
  • To be prepared to work shifts, public holidays weekends and nights in the Gauteng Department of Health hospitals and clinics.
  • Pre-Shortlisted Candidates will be required to submit copies of grade 12/ Matric certificate/statement or Grade 11 report (results) as well as ID copies at the nursing college of their choice
  • Ensure that you qualify and meet the minimum requirements before you apply
  • If you do not receive feedback within 3 months after the closing date, please accept that your application was unsuccessful.

Gauteng Department of Health will offer financial assistance to successful students in the form of a bursary on an annual basis until completion of the programme.

The Gauteng Provincial Government, through its Provincial Health Department, is inviting applications for its 2017 Nursing Bursaries from young Gauteng residents interested in studying towards a Nursing Diploma in Psychiatric, Community and Midwifery at any of the Gauteng public nursing colleges: Chris Hani Baragwanath Nursing College, Ann Latsky Nursing College, and SG Lourens Nursing College. This invitation to apply is extended to current Matric learners and people who have completed Matric/Grade 12 and are looking for an opportunity join the calling of Nursing.

What are the requirements?

In order to be considered, applicants have to meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen who will be 35-years-old or younger in January 2017;
  • Must currently be in Grade 12 or must have completed a Senior Certificate or a National Senior Certificate;
  • Must have passed or be planning to pass Grade 12 with the following subjects:
    • Senior Certificate – English HG D or SG C, Biology HG D or SG C and an M score of 15
    • National Senior Certificate – English Level 4,Life Sciences Level 4 and an APS of 25
    • Current Grade 12 learners must meet the National Senior Certificate requirements in their Grade 11 marks.

All applications should be made online via the Gauteng Professional Job Centre website. Applications by other means will be disqualified. To apply CLICK HERE to register a profile (fill-in details into your online CV), once that is done click on the Nursing Training Intake 2017 banner or CLICK HERE and apply.

Do not upload anything just yet, once you have been shortlisted, take certified copies and originals of your qualifications and ID to your Gauteng public nursing college of choice.
