The National Credit Regulator (NCR) invites applications from suitable candidates to apply for their 2021 ICT Internships from unemployed young South African graduates in the field Information Communication Technology (ICT) or related. The NCR was established as the regulator under the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 (the Act) and is responsible for the regulation of the South African credit industry. It is tasked with carrying out education, research, policy development, registration of industry participants, i.e. credit providers, credit bureaux, alternative dispute resolution agents, payment distribution agents and debt counsellors, investigation of complaints, and enforcement of the Act. The Act requires the NCR to promote the development of an accessible credit market, particularly to address the needs of historically disadvantaged persons, low income persons, and remote, isolated or low density communities.

Position: ICT Internship X2 Stipend: R5391.00 per month

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate must hold a National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Informatics/Information Systems or ICT related qualification.
  • Applicants must not have worked or participated in an internship before.
  • No experience required.
  • Following certificates, A+, N+, MCSE/MCSA and ITIL Foundation would be an added advantage.

Duties:

  • Software and hardware installation and troubleshooting
  • Debugging on all equipment and ensure accurate functionality
  • Application installation
  • Provide support to end-users
  • Assist with desktop support and maintenance
  • Liaise with contracted service providers for 3rd tier support
  • LAN, WAN, and user Administration
  • Administer backup and security
  • Manage and monitor network connectivity and servers
  • Provide support on Windows Operating Systems and servers
  • Provide general end-user support
  • Log calls on the call logging system ( Helpdesk) and maintain full documentation
  • Prepare technical report on the operation of systems
  • Keep inventory of hardware
  • Desktop updates and installations

Skills:

The Gauteng Partnership Fund (GPF), a public housing finance entity, is inviting applications for its 2020 Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Internship Programme. The internship is open to graduates with completed a degrees in Information Technology, Computer Systems or similar field. Interns will receive SETA-related monthly stipends for the duration of the internship.

Overall Responsibility: To provide ICT support services to employees at GPF.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Assist and/or be exposed to the day to day technical maintenance on server, computers & phone equipment, and wireless.
  • Assist and/or be exposed to the maintenance of the operating system, application systems programs and procedures on computers.
  • Assist service personnel in the configuration of hardware and peripheral components, such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives.
  • Assist and/or be exposed to diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, or other network and system problems and replace defective components.
  • Assist and/or be exposed to in the installation, configuration and support of the network operating systems, and network servers including local area networks (LANs, network segments, and other data communication systems).
  • Maintain anti-virus software and other software updates, such as Microsoft Office, Java, etc., on servers and workstations including replacement of defective or inadequate software packages.
  • Assist with Help Desk Support.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements for the Internship Placement

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems or similar
  • Strong on IT hardware and software
  • Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve IT technical issues
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task
  • Eager to learn
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Original text: The CSIR has Internship opportunities for two Interns in the ICT Services Centre. The incumbents will do first-line support to end-users and ICT operations within the CSIR. These positions are based in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:

• Assemble, configure and support of end point devices, inclusive of the necessary user support required;
• Deploy and support network and telephony infrastructure;
• Provide professional customer services;
• Support and Administrate ICT servers, back-ups jobs and storage systems;
• Provide support in line with CSIR’s processes and procedures;
• Perform necessary debugging on all equipment to ensure proper functionality, and help out on all projects that involve end-user support;
• Perform basic network and telephony service support, installations, configuration and providing general user advise where required;
• Troubleshoot software and hardware;
• Manage, maintain and roll-out desktop;
• Provide support on both network and stand-alone printers;
• Ensure desktop functionality is available and accessible at all times to CSIR end-users;
• Ensure quality service is provided to clients;
• Support Microsoft and Linux desktops in a Novell environment.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• A National Diploma in information technology;
• A+ and N+ would be an added advantage;
• Basic computer knowledge;
• Customer service orientation;
• Ability to manage stress;
• Ability to work with a team;
• Communication skills;
• Ability to handle difficult customers;
• Ability to take initiative.
