Are you a South African who has completed Grade 12 and are looking for an opportunity to learn while you earn? Siemens is inviting for its 2022 Commercial Advancement Training Scheme (FOR MATRICULANTS) Learnership programme based at various of their Gauteng offices/sites.

This learnership aims to provide SIEMENS with a source of young commercial staff. By providing trainees with a structured training programme and on-the-job training for an initial period of two years, Siemens trainees will receive the basis for further development and will be equipped with the necessary business skills for a rewarding and successful career within the company. The programme aims to target recent matriculants who have a passion for business processes but cannot afford to study at a University with an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience while studying through an accredited institution.  

Programme Starts: 01 July 2021 – 31 June 2023

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 – 24 years old
  • Matric with Core Mathematics and Accounting (65% aggregate for both Subjects). Pure Mathematics and Accounting students to apply, Mathematical Literacy will not be considered.
  • Students to be based in Gauteng and willing to travel around Johannesburg to various Siemens Sites (Northriding, Midrand, Isando)
  • Must have a passion for Accounting/Business Administration

Background

Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited (“WHC“) is a wholly-owned Company of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (South Africa) under its Faculty of Health Sciences. WHC provides Faculty with a legal framework within which to operate the research and other activities necessary to support its academic objectives. In addition, WHC offers a range of products and services to the Academics conducting these activities in order to assist with the management thereof.

The Wits Health Hubb is a project of the DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence in Human Development and a division of Wits Health Consortium. It was established in 2020 by Dr Lisa Ware, with co-founders Dr Delan Naidoo and Mr Lethu Kapueja with the core funding from the Development Bank of Southern Africa.

Insufficient access to community health promotion services in Soweto has resulted in increased levels of chronic disease. This places an enormous burden on the public health system. The Hubb engages youth who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) from the local area and provides NQF accredited training in community healthcare.

Supported by the HUBB the youth engage in:

  • Community health screening
  • Health promotion
  • Health research

The HUBB encourages innovation and the creation of health entrepreneurs. When possible, pipelines are created for youth into tertiary education.

Main purpose of the job

  • The “Wits Health Hubb” (WHH) programme aims to provide meaningful professional work experience, training, and qualification in the healthcare space for formerly unemployed youth; to activate health consciousness and personal wellbeing amongst youth, and to expand community access to healthcare
  • At the end of 12 months, trainees will obtain an NQF, level 3, Health Promotion Officer (HPO) qualification (SAQA ID No: 94597)

Location

  • Jabulani Dlab Precinct, 0229 Isikwama Street, Jabulani, Soweto

Key performance areas

  • Carrying out basic health assessments for households
  • Providing basic health education and referrals for a limited range of services
  • Supporting and assisting in navigating the health and social services system
  • Gathering research data for national and international studies
  • Taking measurements of vital signs in adults and children: temperature, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure, and anthropometry
  • Provide basic health care assistance and screening services: HIV and mental wellness screening tests and counselling, COVID-19 screening (temperature and screening questions, no administering of swob tests), cholesterol, glucose
  • Provide basic psychosocial support to community members

Minimum requirements for the application

  • Youth: 18 – 30 years old
  • Residing in Soweto
  • Matric
  • Basic Computer Literacy

Additional requirements

  • Not currently in employment, education, or training
  • Learners must be willing to commit for the full duration of the programme
  • Learners must be adequality mobile to execute work within the Community
  • Learners must have adequate visual and hearing capacity to master the envisaged skills
  • Previous experience in health, counselling or community work is advantageous but not a requirement

Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE)-listed African Oxygen Limited (Afrox) – a member of the international Linde Group – is inviting young South Africans with a Matric certificate with Mathematics, Accounting and English as passed subjects to apply for its 2014/2015 learnership programme in Business Administration / Call Centre. This learnership is a 12-months training programme incorporating both theoretical (classroom style) and practical (on-on-job) training, and will – on successful completion – result the achievement of a National Certificate: Business Administration at NQF Level 3.

What are the requirements?

To be considered for an Afrox 2014/2015 Learnership Programme you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a Matric/Grade 12 certificate (passed with a minimum of Admission to Diploma [An “S” aggregate in the old Matric]);
  • Have Mathematics, English and Accounting passed with a minimum of Symbol “C” /  Achievement Level 5;
  • You must be a South African citizen;
  • Be computer literate; and
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure customer satisfaction.

Learners will be required to sign a tripartite contract – between the Learner, CHIETA, and Afrox. Learners should attend and complete all practical and theoretical components of the learnership.
