Capricorn District Municipality is inviting applications from unemployed graduates with a minimum of a three-year bachelors degree (B Com) or national diploma in Accounting to apply for its financial management internship programme starting in  2014 – ending in 2016. If your would like to see yourself gaining your financial management experience with this Polokwane-based municipality please read on.

What are the requirements?

You have to meet the following requirements for you to be considered for a place on this internship programme:

  • Have a National Diploma or Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting;
  • Be South African;
  • Be unemployed;
  • Must have NEVER participated in an internship programme;
  • Be eager to learn;
  • Have a passion for Accounting; and
  • Self-motivated.

What will your duties be?

If you are successful in your application for this internship you can expect to gain experience in the following areas: Supply Chain Management, Budget and Treasury, and Expenditure Units.

 The Swartland Local Municipality is currently inviting applications for its financial management internship programme with the Department of the Director: Financial Services in Malmesbury.
 
(Ref: V21/13) Salary Scale: R10 000 – R12 000 p.m. (total package) (One-year contract with the option to extend it for another year)
To be considered for this position you must be in possession of:
  • BCom that must include  subjects such as Accountancy, as well as Cost Accounting and Management Accounting
  • computer literacy in MS Excel, Word and Outlook
  •  a valid Code B driver’s licence will serve  as a recommendation
  •  knowledge of the MFMA will be advantageous
  • applicants will be  subjected to an accountancy assessment.
The successful candidate will be stationed at the budget office for the full duration of the  internship.

Commencement of duties: As soon as possible.

The MFMIP is an organised professional training and work experience programme with the goal of providing high quality training and practical exposure in all aspects of Municipal Finance Management. The programme has a logical training sequence that builds on the skills and competencies acquired during University and Technikon training.

Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
• implementation of mfma, grap and budget reforms
• financial and budget management • internal auditing, risk, performance and project management • expenditure and supply chain/procurement management • revenue and income management • asset management.
