AVI Limited is inviting unemployed South Africans to apply for its 2021 Quality Assurance Internship at its Isando, Johannesburg, (Gauteng) sites. The aim of the internship is to provide Graduate with real exposure and practical learning in actual working environments, Encouraged to be involved and think of alternative solutions to genuine business issues Constant mentorship, guidance and support, Offered meaningful work and opportunities to contribute and held accountable for quality and delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with the various subject matter experts and gain experience in quality and visual product support.
  • Be involved in projects related to sensory training including running panels, analysing research, compiling relevant reports, and providing feedback.
  • Work alongside the Quality Manager to prepare reports, using data to identify trends in the quality space.
  • Get involved in identifying gaps in the system.
  • Provide support to the Quality Manager when needed

What are the requirements?

To be considered, applicant should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant degree (BSc Food Sciences / BSc Food Technology / BSc Bio-Tech / B. Tech)
  • Have a minimum average of 60% in your final year
  • An ability to work proficiently on Excel
  • Your own vehicle will be preferable
  • Exposure or knowledge of consumer science will be valuable
  • Vacation work or part-time work will be an advantage

  • Applying technology to quantify problems and interpret data in a rational and objective manner

The CSIR is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates in various study fields (see below) to apply for 12-month long internship opportunities within its Bio-manufacturing Industry Development Centre (BIDC).

The BIDC at CSIR Biosciences is focussed on translation of research into market-ready products and technologies. The BIDC works closely with SMMEs to develop market-ready products and to support their entry into the market. This requires a multi-disciplinary approach incorporating market and business development, technology and product development, manufacturing and marketing among others. The BIDC is offering a range of internships in the areas listed below.

  • Quality assurance
  • Technology and process development
  • Product development
  • Bio-manufacturing
  • Public Relations/ Marketing
  • Analytical chemistry
  • Project administration and management
  • Marketing
  • Procurement and logistics

Interns will be afforded the opportunity for experiential learning, and will participate in large multi-disciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, plan and execute tasks under supervision.
  • In-depth analysis and objective interpretation of data under supervision.
  • Undertake laboratory and pilot plant research and development
  • Contribute to writing reports and manuscripts.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification will be an undergraduate degree or diploma in the relevant areas listed above;
  • Postgraduate qualifications and/or relevant work experience would be an advantage;
  • A strong work ethic (e.g. accountability and reliability) and the ability to work under supervision within a dynamic team environment;
  • The following competencies are critical for this position: innovation; sound technical knowledge; integrity, lateral thinking ability; and knowledge and appreciation of a cross-disciplinary project team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute across the boundaries imposed by classical scientific disciplines.
