The South African Reserve Bank (SARB), in collaboration with the South African Bank Note Company (RF) Proprietary Limited (SABN), actively contributes to addressing the country’s skills shortage in the technical and engineering fields through its Work Integrated Learning Programme (WILP). WILP is an internship and apprenticeship programme aimed at giving successful applicants maximum training exposure within the technical and engineering fields available within the SARB and its banknote-producing subsidiary, the SABN, preparing them for their trade test and national diploma.

Participants will be placed at the SARB’s Head Office in Pretoria, the SABN in Pretoria North, and the SARB’s cash centers located in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. Participants will receive a work-based learning stipend for the duration of the programme.

What are the requirements?

Participants will consist of the following groups: 

  • Artisan: Learners from Further Education and Training Colleges with at least an N4 certificate requiring 36 months of practical work experience in order to obtain an occupational trade qualification or a trade test. The disciplines that will be considered are Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Plumbing, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and Carpentry
  • Technician: Learners from Universities of Technology with at least an S4 who require 12 months of practical work experience as a requirement to complete their national diplomas. The disciplines that will be considered are Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. If you are a South African citizen and meet the above-mentioned requirements, you are welcome to apply.
