The South African Department of Labour is inviting applications for its Pupil Inspector (Learner Inspector) [Reference No.:   HR 4/17/02/04 HO] bursary opportunities from prospective students who are either currently in Matric or have completed Matric with a pass of 60% or more in Mathematics and Physical Science. Students already at university or university of technology studying towards a relevant qualification and those sitting at home with a Grade 12 are also invited to apply. These bursaries are open to applicants currently studying or planning to study towards any of these fields in 2017:  Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Light / Heavy Current), Environmental Health / Science, and Mechanical Engineering. These opportunity is valued at R100 545 per year.

What are the requirements?

In order to be considered, applicants have to meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen;
  • Be currently in Matric / Grade 12 OR have a Grade 12 certificate and wish to study OR be a current student at a university or university of technology in any of the following fields:
    • Chemical Engineering,
    • Civil Engineering,
    • Electrical Engineering (Light / Heavy Current),
    • Environmental Health / Science, OR
    • Mechanical Engineering.
  • Current students must not be recipients of any bursary or other student finance;
  • Current matric students / those who completed Matric must have passed Physical Science and Mathematics with 60% or more.

How to apply?

To apply for these Pupil Inspector (Learner Inspector) opportunities at the Department of Labour, please send your application containing a cover letter, indicating your preferred field of study, as well as a completed Z83 Application Form (download here or go fetch a copy at the nearest government office) and certified copies of your Grade 12 certificate, Transcript of Academic Record (only if you are already at University or University of Technology), ID book / card. (On the Z83 Form, under “Position for which you are applying?”, write Pupil Inspector (Learner Inspector) and under “Reference number” write HR 4/17/02/04 HO) The applications may be submitted by either post or hand-delivery, the details of which are below:
