2016 Presidency of South Africa Internships (Various fields)

The Office of the President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Dr Jacob Zuma, is inviting applications from young unemployed South Africans for its 2016 Internship Programme. The internship programme, which is available to a wide variety of study fields (see table below), will run for a period of twelve months and interns will be paid a qualification-dependent monthly stipend as follows: National Diploma/ Degree/ Honours = R4 620.00 per month; Masters Degree = R5 725.00 per month; while, PhD = R7 110.00 per month.

What are the requirements?

  • Unemployed South African graduates/post graduates, with a tertiary qualification in one of the below mentioned field of study, who has not been previously employed under any internship programme.

Private Office of the President: Chief Directorate: Support Services Applicants must be in possession of a Degree in Public Administration / Records Management Provide general administrative support to the Unit, inter alia, making travel arrangements for Protocol Officials, typing, photocopying, faxing, filing of documents, ordering stationery and tracking expenditure. Recording and filling of correspondence. /3
Office of the Deputy President: Deputy Director-General Applicants must be in possession of a Degree in Political Economics / Development Studies. Conduct secondary data analysis and literature based research on social, economic, political and related matters and synthesised information for policy briefs.

Prepare background papers and briefs to the advisors and senior managers. Conduct additional background research to inform policy articulation or review. Provide content and operational support to the advisory support services unit.

Cabinet Office: Fosad Secretariat Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma / Degree in Public Administration / Social Sciences Assist with administrative & logistical arrangements for successful convening & hosting of FOSAD cluster meetings. Provide secretariat services to FOSAD cluster meetings. /6
Protocol and Ceremonial Services: Protocol Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma in Administration / International Relations Provide general administrative support to the Unit, inter alia, making travel arrangements for Protocol Officials, typing, photocopying, faxing, filing of documents, ordering stationery and tracking expenditure. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders. Assist in Protocol duties during preparation of major events. /7
Auxilliary Services: Knowledge Management & Library Services Applicants must be in possession of a Bachelor of Information Sciences/ Library Sciences Day to day admin duties including Cataloguing & classification of information resources. Shelf reading & packing of books. Media monitoring. Circulation desk duties. Prepare information resources for internal library loans. /8
Auxilliary Services: Central Registry Applicants must be in possession of a Bachelor of Information Science/ Archival Studies/ Public Management. Prepare archiving of records and assist with office inspections for proper records management. Retrieve archived records. File all correspondence. Indexing of documents /9
Household and Accommodation Applicants must be in possession of a N6/National Diploma/Degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering. Maintenance of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and woodwork. /10

Organisational Development Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma/Degree Management Services/Production and Operations Management. Organisational Design, job evaluation, job descriptions, Ad-hoc tasks relating to the unit’s core functions. /14
Labour Relations, Employee Health and Wellness: Employee Health and Wellness Applicants must be in possession of a Degree in Psychology/Social Work. Coordinate health & wellness events. Provide administrative support to the Directorate. Minutes & report writing. Screen & provide counselling to employees. Filling of employee health & wellness cases. /15
Supply Chain Management: Demand & Acquisitions Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management/ Transport Management/ Purchasing Management/ Logistics/ Public Management. Capture Suppliers on database, request quotations, evaluate quotations. /16
Supply Chain Management: Logistics Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management/ Transport Management/ Purchasing Management/ Logistics/ Public Management. Capture external requisitions on Logis. Approve procurement advice and authorize ledger. Issue order numbers to different suppliers. /17
Supply Chain Management: Transport Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management/ Transport Management/ Purchasing Management/ Logistics/ Public Management. Management of transport bookings, traffic fines, accidents, hired and leased vehicles, flight and accommodation bookings and general administration. /18
Supply Chain Management: Assets Applicants must be in possession of National Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management/ Transport Management/ Purchasing Management/ Logistics/ Public Management. Receiving deliveries, barcoding of new received assets, assets movement, assets verification /19
Chief Financial Office: Budgets Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma/Degree in Financial Management Accounting/ Cost and Management Accounting. Capture budget on BAS, prepare in year monitoring reports, update expenditure on cash flow reports on monthly basis, and assist in compilation of financial statements. /20

Cape Town Office: Procurement Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management/ Logistics/ Purchasing Management. Initiate procurement process. Obtain authority for procurement. Procure operating equipment and commodities as requested. Evaluate performance and compliance with Supply Chain Management process and policies. Ensure preferred supplier delivers the correct items as per invoice and quotation. Ensure sound records management (filing system and case recording system).
